On December 4, 2007, Station 14 was dispatched for 14-0 to assist Brandywine Hundred Fire Co. (Station 11) with a large mulch pile at the Holland Mulch Company on Hay Road in Edgemoor. 14-0 responded with a crew of 2 within minutes. Upon arrival, 14-0 was assigned to help fight the several piles of tree trunks and mulch on fire. The fire was burning in several 20 - 30 foot high piles of processed mulch and yard waste including large tree trunks and stumps. At the time of the fire, the temperature was barely above freezing and the winds were blowing in excess of 20 mph. creating many problems for the fire crews who tried to fight the fires. making it worse, within 100 yards downwind of the fire location were a chemical plant and a power plant. 14-0 was in service for nearly 8 hours and returned to quarters at 18:30 hours.
