Today was the graduation ceremony for the 40th Wilmington Fire Department’s Recruit Class at Salesianum High School. Our member, FF/EMT Matthew Keefer was selected for and completed the process and training leading up to today’s graduation. Matt’s hard work won him the class award for highest academic achievement. He also had the honor to be selected as class president, which allowed him to lead the class, and spoke at today’s ceremonies. Matt’s hard work and leadership was noted during the classes, as he was able to use his experience in the fire service and military to help his less experienced classmates. He had his badge placed by his father and life member, David Keefer. While we have lost Matt temporarily as he works through his first year in the city, we congratulate him and wish him the best of luck and safety in his new career.
