MVC Involving Ambulance Press Release

Tuesday, December 10, 2019
To: Media Outlets From: Deputy Chief Edgerton Date: Tuesday, August 14, 2018 Re: Ambulance Collision At approximately 1010 hours our ambulance (A14) was dispatched, with the New Castle County Paramedics, to respond for a severe medical emergency. While responding, at approximately 10:12 hours, they were involved in a collision at the intersection of Kirkwood Highway (DE SR-2) and Limestone Road (DE SR-7). While passing through the intersection, the ambulance was struck and subsequently rolled over, eventually coming to a rest in the northbound lanes of Limestone Road. Both members of the crew were properly restrained. The dispatch center was immediately notified, which prompted a response from several neighboring agencies for multiple Fire and EMS assets. Both EMTs and one civilian were transported to Christiana Medical Center for evaluation and treatment. This collision is currently being investigated by the Delaware State Police and Cranston Heights Fire Company is actively cooperating. The Cranston Heights Fire Company is also in the process of conducting its own formal investigation. Further information will be released as it becomes available. The Cranston Heights Fire Company would also like to thank our neighboring fire companies for assisting with handling emergency incidents while services were restored.
