Commercial Structure Fire: 7-11 Store - Centerville Road

In the early morning hours of January 17th, 2012 Stations 14, 16, 17, 2/21, and 30 were dispatched for a commercial structure fire.

Units were dispatched to 7-11 at 1901 Centerville Rd for a report of smoke in the building.

Engine 14-2 was the duty engine and responded with a crew of 5. Deputy 14 responded at the same time as the engine. Upon arrival 14-2 and Deputy 14 found a smoke condition inside the structure. NCCPD was on-scene standing by to render aid controlling the incident scene. Deputy 14 assumed command. The crew from 14-2's crew was sent into the structure to investigate the source of the smoke.

Upon the arrival of Quint 21-7 access was made to the roof and a crew was sent up to investigate.

Rescue 16, Squrt 30 and Ladder 17 stood by on Centerville Rd .

The investigation determined that the smoke was coming from a capacitor in the HVAC system. The building was ventilated and and command placed the situation under control. After ventilation was complete, units became available and returned to quarters.
